UN 101
US taxpayer contributions to anti-Israel machinery at the United Nations
Over the years the UN has created five specific bodies or programs dedicated to laying political siege to the state of Israel:
- the 1968 UN "Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices Affecting the Human Rights of the Palestinian People and Other Arabs of the Occupied Territories"
- the 1975 UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People
- the 1977 UN Division (Unit) for Palestinian Rights
- the 1977 UN "Special Information Programme on Palestine," within the UN Department of Public Information
- the 1993 UN "Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967"
In a long-standing, but incoherent Congressional policy, US contributions to the UN's regular budget are withheld from the first three items, while US taxpayer dollars contribute 22% of the costs of the latter two items.
