Note
Secretary-General Kofi Annan is in a mad scramble to prevent Iran's nuclear arms ambitions from being sent to the UN Security Council. "I am not sure that they will be ready to refer [Iran] to the Security Council if the official report of the board has not been released and deliberated upon by the board and a decisiontaken," Mr Annan told Reuters on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos. In plain language, according to Annan, the previous UN reports which already reveal that Iran has failed to meet its obligations under the Nuclear Non-proliferation treaty, are now meaningless, and Iran's written public repudiation in early January of its treaty obligations needs further study. Wait for another UN report.
