US Officials Call for Richard Falk's Resignation April 25, 2013 Mission of United States Geneva & US Mission to the United Nations Susan Rice: http://usun.state.gov/briefing/statements/199727.htm Eileen Donahoe: http://geneva.usmission.gov/2011/07/07/donahoestatement/ Erin Pelton: http://usun.state.gov/briefing/statements/207893.htm Susan Rice: The United States rejects the latest report by Mr. Richard Falk, UN Special Rapporteur for the Palestinian Territories. His call for a boycott of private companies is irresponsible and unacceptable. Throughout his tenure as Special Rapporteur, Mr. Falk has been highly biased and made offensive statements, including outrageous comments on the 9/11 attacks. Mr. Falk's recommendations do nothing to further a peaceful settlement to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and indeed poison the environment for peace. His continued service in the role of a UN Special Rapporteur is deeply regrettable and only damages the credibility of the UN. Eileen Donahoe: I am repulsed by the recent cartoon posting to the personal blog written by Richard Falk, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on "the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967." Mr. Falk's continued comments and postings to his personal blog are deeply offensive, and I condemn them in the strongest terms. I am registering a strong protest with the UN on behalf of the United States. The United States has often been critical of Mr. Falk's approach to his mandate, including his one-sided and politicized view of situation in Israel and the Palestinian Territories. We hope that he will resign, recognizing that his continued status as a UN mandate holder is a blight on the UN system. The United States is deeply committed to the cause of human rights. Mr. Falk's continued offensive postings and biased reporting does nothing to further the human rights of Palestinians or Israelis, nor anything to advance peace in the region. Erin Pelton: The United States completely rejects the provocative and offensive commentary by Mr. Richard Falk, UN Special Rapporteur for the Palestinian Territories, regarding the recent terrorist attack in Boston, Massachusetts. The United States has previously called for Mr. Falk's resignation for his numerous outrageous statements, and these comments underscore once more the absurdity of his service as a UN Special Rapporteur.
