Global Deception By Jamie Glazov January 31, 2006 FrontPageMagazine.com Original Source: http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=21097   Frontpage Interview’s guest today is Joseph Klein, a practicing attorney in the field of global technology law for more than thirty years.  He received his Juris Doctor degree with honors from Harvard Law School, where he studied constitutional law with the late Archibald Cox. He is the author of the new book, Global Deception: The UN's Stealth Assault on America's Freedom.     FP: Joseph Klein, welcome to Frontpage Interview.   Klein:  Thank you.  It is my pleasure to be with you.   FP: What inspired you to write this book?   Klein: As a kid growing up during the Cold War, I believed strongly in the original vision for the United Nations.  I formed a Model UN club in high school and won honorable mention in a national UN essay contest sponsored by a pro-UN organization that was then called the American Association for the United Nations.  I even got a job at one of the UN missions in New York as a teenager, giving me an early glimpse of the world body from the inside.   Over the years, however, I became increasingly disillusioned with the UN as it became dominated by elitists and technocrats who are using the UN and controlling its agenda to push for what they call global governance.  September 11th was the final tipping point for me.  I witnessed first-hand the horrors of that fateful day.  The image of desperate people jumping to their deaths to escape the World Trade Center's raging flames remains with me to this day.  This was a clarion call that the U.S. was in a battle for survival as a free people against a global alliance of fanatical terrorists and their state sponsors.   To this day, the UN cannot even reach a consensus to define what terrorism means, let alone do anything effective about it.   It soon became obvious to me that the UN was becoming the instrument of those determined to weaken the American people's ability to defend our way of life under the Constitution that has made this nation great.  That's how and why I became inspired to write Global Deception. FP: What was the original vision for the United Nations and how has that vision been betrayed? Klein: The United Nations was founded to bring sovereign nations together for the purpose of cooperating to solve common problems while  taking collective action where warranted against threats to international peace and security -  to repel another Hitler-type aggression.   FDR, Harry Truman and Winston Churchill - the founding architects of the UN Charter - had no interest in utopian visions of world government.  In fact, the United Nations Charter specifically recognizes the sovereign status of the member states.  It stipulates that the United Nations does not have the authority “to intervene in matters which are essentially within the domestic jurisdiction of any state.” However, there remained many opinion-makers, including prominent politicians, who believed that national sovereignty had to give way to some sort of world government.  These globalists, as I call the elitists and technocrats advocating such a plan for global governance, may have lost the initial battle for defining the UN’s mission, but they never gave up their long-term objectives. The World Federalist Movement was formed in 1947 as a result of a meeting held in Montreux, Switzerland,  where 300 participants representing fifty-one organizations from twenty-four different countries held the first “Conference of the World Movement for World Federal Government”.   Its explicit goal was “to transform the UN and to draw up a World Constitution through a people's convention.” The movement blossomed the following year to 150,000 members.     Among other things, the movement supported the conversion of the UN General Assembly into a world parliament. It also advocated the creation of new international bodies with enforcement powers such as what eventually became known as the International Criminal Court.   This vision would be innocuous enough if the globalists simply confined their activities to harmless New Age natterings and mystical visions. Instead, they have managed to meld a coalition of New Age followers, environmentalists, human rights activists, peaceniks, anti-capitalists, and other misfits into an odd and dangerous coalition. They have sought to convert the United Nations—the tool most immediately to hand—into an instrument of world governance paying homage to the planet Earth (as embodied in the Earth Charter that its authors compared to the Ten Commandments), while implementing a hazy but ‘fair’ social justice system world-wide.     Funded in part by major foundations and celebrity philanthropists like George Soros and Ted Turner and backed by world leaders like French President Jacques Chirac with their own ax to grind against the perceived hegemony of the United States which they want to use the United Nations to contain, these activists have formed literally thousands of private, non-profit “people’s” organizations world-wide.  These non-governmental organizations (NGOs), which operate with no oversight and often reflect an anti-capitalist and anti-American in political persuasion, are deeply encrusted within the UN system with special access to the Secretary-General and his top associates.  More than 3000 of them have official consultative status with the UN, which means that they can attend UN meetings to keep watch over the negotiations, exchange information with UN agencies, and lobby member state representatives and UN officials.   Since the bulk of NGO funding comes via participation in ‘development projects’ siphoned through the UN and other multilateral organizations, it only stands to reason that NGOs want to further their pet programs in the hope of feeding more lavishly at the UN trough. In 2000 an estimated $7 billion dollars was flowing through  NGOs annually.   As I demonstrate time and again in Global Deception through their own words, the globalists inside and outside of the UN establishment have succeeded in dominating its leadership and agenda.   Decades after failing to prevail in their attempts to influence the initial design of the UN, the globalists have managed to seize the machinery of the UN establishment. They are using its unaccountable, unelected, and unsupervised forums to advance an anti-freedom agenda in direct contradiction to the organization’s original intent and at odds with our own Constitution. FP: What is it exactly that the globalists want to use the UN for?   Klein: Over the years, globalist have come up with many schemes seeking to create international institutional frameworks that would govern precisely the types of activities that the UN Charter reserves for the member states themselves—a universal code of laws and taxes that transcend national borders.  The globalists’ hit parade includes: global taxes to the tune of as much as one trillion dollars a year for the UN to spend as it pleases, strict universal gun control if not outright prohibition against individual possession of guns for self-defense, global economic redistribution, an International Criminal Court with powers to try individual citizens, the exclusive right to declare and preside over military action, and even elimination of the veto power that was crucial to the United States’ decision to join the United Nations in the first place.    FP: Deep down, what motivates the globalists? What potential world do they really idealize and why?   Klein:  I believe that the globalists are motivated by a combination of jealousy and fear inspired by perceived US hegemony with a sprinkling of Socialist-style utopianism.  They know that they cannot enact their radical agenda through the regular democratic process so they use unaccountable global forums to put the stamp of legitimacy on their rules for global citizenship. FP: How can we best defend ourselves from the globalists’ agenda? Klein: The need to protect our Constitutional system of self-government from such over-reaching is self-evident.  Yet we can’t stop this onslaught just by quitting the UN altogether – satisfying as that might be.  The reality is that a ‘United Nations’ in some form or another will remain a reality so long as a majority of the world’s governments wants such an institution to exist., and that it can do more harm to our interests without our participation than it might if we remain a member nation, using our power to moderate its excesses from within.   Ambassador Bolton is doing a great job in keeping the issue of real UN reform alive and looking out for the interests of our country.   As a last resort, we may have to use our financial leverage over the UN budget as some in Congress have suggested.  But the globalists are very clever.  They are exploiting the U.S.’s unelected judiciary to achieve their desired agenda. This strategy includes bringing court cases before sympathetic federal judges who might be willing to incorporate into their interpretations of our Constitution loosely worded ‘international norms’ adopted by what we’re assured is a ‘consensus’ garnered from some nebulous, unaccountable global forum sponsored by the UN.    Sometimes these judges have referenced treaties to which the United states is not even a party as a basis for their interpretation of what our Constitution requires.  Anyone who has followed the growing trend at the Supreme Court to use foreign rulings and un-ratified treaties in their Constitutional decisions has cause to be worried.   That's one reason I applaud putting judges like Roberts and Alito on the Supreme Court.  Both have publicly spoken out against this disturbing trend.  I have also suggested in Global Deception a way of using Congress’ power to limit the jurisdiction of the federal courts, assigning cases involving any claims that have any basis in international treaties or other international law sources to a single court equipped to handle them. FP: Joseph Klein, thank you for joining us today. Klein:  Thank you.  I enjoyed it.
