World Food Program (WFP) Director to Palestine Arnold Vercken stressed the vehemence of the situation during a statement to Agency France Press. People will fall well below the poverty line and they will become more dependent on international help, Vercken told. About 140,000 civil servants are employed in Palestine, and the total of their salaries feeds one forth of the population of 3.5million. The situation is not very bright says the WFP director, who hopes the situation will not change for the worse. The Director of Gaza operations for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), John Ging, says the lives of Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip completely dependent on international aid.
