Oil-for-Food figure sentencing in March January 30, 2008 The Houston Chronicle Original Source: http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/business/5497354.html WASHINGTON — The sentencing of Houston oilman David Chalmers Jr., who pleaded guilty to conspiring to funnel kickbacks to Saddam Hussein's regime under the United Nations' Oil-for-Food program, is now set for March 7, court documents show. Chalmers, owner of Houston's BayOil, pleaded guilty in August to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Federal sentencing guidelines would indicate a sentence of 37 to 46 months. He previously had been scheduled to appear for sentencing before U.S. District Court Judge Denny Chin in Manhattan on Feb. 9. Houston oilman Oscar Wyatt also pleaded guilty last year to one count of conspiracy. He is now serving a one-year sentence in a minimum security facility in Beaumont.
