The Nigerian Minister of State 1, Alhaji Tijjani Kaura, made this known yesterday while delivering a keynote address during the opening ceremony of the African Regional Preparatory Meeting for the Durban Review Conference. The minister said that Nigeria was committed to the Durban declaration, and would not stop doing everything possible to realise its objectives. He noted that Nigeria would continue to play its part to combat the evils of racism and all forms of racial discrimination in the world. Alhaji Kaura added that Nigeria would also not stop playing its role in the search to end racial discrimination, xenophobia and other related intolerance that have caused problems to the global community. Let me assure you that Nigeria remains strongly committed to the Durban process and would continue to play its part in the struggle to combat racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance the minister noted. He then urged participants at the preparatory conference and all concerned to join hands with Africa to ensure that both the regional preparation and the forthcoming review were without hitch. The minister added that as a result of this, Nigeria would continue to support and ensure that the preparatory conference was successful. He also commended the Republic of South Africa about for the role it played some seven years ago in hosting the historical conference which resulted in the Durban declaration against all forms of racial discrimination.
