Hezbollah Vows to Increase Arms, Advises UN to Rest

Hezbollah deputy chief sheikh Naim Qassem vowed that his Lebanese Shiite armed group would continue to rearm itself, and advised the United Nations (UN) to take a rest, local As-Safier daily reported on Thursday. 
We will continue to buy arms, and stay an armed resistance force, Qassem said during a ceremony in Beirut Wednesday night, calling on the UN Security Council to take a rest and sleep. 
The UN resolution 1701, which ended a 34-day war between Israel and Hezbollah in 2006, prohibited Hezbollah from bringing in arms, and deployed UN maritime forces along the Lebanese coast to prevent shipments of arms to Hezbollah. 
Addressing the UN which keeps reporting that Hezbollah is rearming itself, Qassem said: the UN does not dictate Hezbollah, we do not want anything from it, let them talk loud, they will go unheard. 
UN reports said that Hezbollah is bringing in loads of arms via the north and east Syrian-Lebanese borders. 
However, Qassem stressed that the only way Lebanon is defended would be through artillery, rockets and mighty hearts. He vowed that his party would not allow the U.S. and Israel to use Lebanon as a battlefield.
He reaffirmed that the results of the upcoming Lebanese parliamentary elections on June 7 will be in favor of the resistance.
