Eshkol council files UN complaint over phosphorous shells By YAAKOV LAPPIN January 2, 2012 JPost http://www.jpost.com/Headlines/Article.aspx?id=251864     The farming district of Eshkol Regional Council in southern Israel filed a complaint on Monday over two Palestinian mortar shells fired at it from Gaza which were found to contain phosphorous. The complaint, filed to UN Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon, noted that the Geneva Convention banned the use of phosphorous in weapons directed at civilians. The rural region, filled with farms and villages, has been the target of years-long Palestinian rocket and mortar attacks. The  phosphorous shells fired on Sunday landed in open fields, and did not cause injuries or damages.
