As Syria bleeds, 'Human Rights Activists' can only target Israel By http://www.foxnews.com/archive/author/Rabbi-Abraham-Cooper/index.html \t _blank Rabbi Abraham Cooper October 10, 2012 Fox News – HYPERLINK http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/10/10/as-syria-bleeds-human-rights-activists-can-only-target-israel/print \l ixzz28ulJRVCy \t _blank http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/10/10/as-syria-bleeds-human-rights-activists-can-only-target-israel/print#ixzz28ulJRVCy I have been getting a flurry of e-mails about a new human rights flotilla. Destination: Gaza. My first reaction: How about Syria?  Until now, Turkey has absorbed the overwhelming burden for refugees fleeing across the border. But  what about those stuck in the country, civilians—horror-struck, bleeding amidst the rubble of the nasty civil  war between rebels trying to dislodge the tyrannical Assad regime— those who cannot get out of the way of the carnage? Imagine the morale booster they would get from an international flotilla! Ships and boats,  an armada of morality, led by a former member of the Canadian Parliament, with no one less than the iconic Apartheid-buster, Nobel Prize winner, Archbishop Desmond Tutu atop its advisory board. Imagine the international impact of a flotilla of ships carrying humanitarian aid and the critical message to Syrians: YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN! Forget it.  For these human rights activists, Syrians are as good as forgotten. There is no flotilla heading to either of the Mediterranean Syrian ports of Latakia or Tarsus. Instead, it is heading to help the “beleaguered” people of a few miles south in— Gaza.  But there is no invasion of Gaza, no one starving. Hamastan's new neighbor—Muslim Brotherhood-led Egypt—has even opened the border for the transit of goods and a whole lot more.  Last year, Hamas launched 657 missiles aimed at 1 million Israeli civilians. This year, they are on course to surpass the 2011 murderous attacks. As for the reality on the ground in Gaza, the well-connected Hamas haves continue to put up magnificent villas and these two hotels do not give the impression of the Warsaw Ghetto 2012. So why would so many human rights activists get it so wrong? Increasingly, the hatred of Jews, not just Israel plays a pivotal role. Once upon a time, “anti-Zionism” just meant criticism of Israel. Nowadays, rabid anti-Israel critics are increasingly, openly crossing the line into anti-Semitism.  Case in point: Free Gaza Movement's (FGM) founder, Greta Berlin, an  “anti-Zionist” whose loathing of the Jewish state is just a cover story for hatred of Jews. In recent days, Berlin used her organization’s “human rights” Twitter account to declare, “Zionists operated the concentration camps and helped murder millions of innocent Jews.” She linked to a video featuring Jew-hater Eustace Mullins (died 2010) who espoused: “This religious ceremony of drinking the blood of an innocent gentile child is basic to the Jew's entire concept of his existence as a parasite, living off of the blood of the host.” The Mullins video argues that:   “What is going on is the grand Nazi scheme . . .. you say, ‘well, Adolf Hitler died in 1945 and that was the end of the Nazi Party.’ But that’s because you’ve never been told what the origin of ‘Nazi’ is.  ‘Na’ stands for National Socialism, [which was the political party of the] German Nazis, and in 1923 there was a double agent who came to Hitler and he said to Hitler, ‘look, your Nazi Party, your National Socialist Party, is not getting off the ground.  You need an alliance.’  And he suggested that they ally with the Zionist Party.  So the ‘Na’ of National Socialism joined with the Zionist Party, the World Zionist Party, in 1923, and ever after was known as the Nazis, N-A-Z-I.  The ‘zi’ was for ‘Zionists.” Berlin also linked to Im Wald Von Katyn, a Nazi propaganda film that was the brainchild of Joseph Goebbels blaming the 1940 Katyn Forest Massacre of Polish officers on a grand conspiracy of communists with Jews and Zionists. Berlin apologized for her Tweet as only intended for  “a group of people who were discussing propaganda and racism, and this link was an example of the terrible propaganda that could be spewed on websites.” Berlin’s specious “explanation” is refuted by her own use--since 2005-- of the libelous term “Zio-Nazis”. Berlin’s Free Gaza Movement—which used a flotilla manned by true believers armed with hatchets not just to break Israel’s legitimate blockade of arms shipments to Hamas, but to defame and ostracize the Jewish state—is a celebrity magnet that has attracted support from the International Solidarity Movement, Code Pink, Saddam Hussein lobbyist George Galloway, venomous anti-Israel Baroness Jenny Tonge, and Nobel Peace Prize-winning Archbishop Desmond Tutu. Tutu’s support might come as a surprise until it is viewed against the backdrop of his track record criticizing “the Jewish” pro-Israel lobby, caricaturing Jews as an arrogant “peculiar people,” and condemning Israel as “un-Christian” and guilty of “things that even Apartheid South Africa had not done.” Tragically, Bishop Tutu has chosen to squander his immense moral capital to help delegitimize the the Jewish people and the State of Israel. The anti-Israel/anti-Jewish psychosis  being whipped up by Greta Berlin and the FGM matters precisely because this is not an isolated aberration.  Since the ill-fated 2001 UN Durban, anti-racism conference, visceral Jew-hatred masquerading as “anti-Zionism”  has corrupted the discourse of the global NGO community. It numbs the world’s conscience, sometimes rendering it almost deaf and dumb at a time when the Mideast’s newest, truest crime against humanity—the violent displacement of almost one million Syrians—demands that moral voices be raised in unison and effective international action be taken. The world’s far-flung Jewish communities, the Mideast’s exposed Christian minorities, and the Syrian people are all victims a false flag operation that deflects international attention from the crimes that should be its true focus. For this moment at least, we are all—Jews, Christians, and innocent Syrian Muslims—victims of history's oldest hatred: anti-Semitism.
