UNRWA fueling anti-Israel/pro-terrorism expression   These quilts were created in the late 1990s and have been displayed, inter alia, in the visitor's entrance to the UN General Assembly from 3-31 May 2000 in http://web.archive.org/web/20030804191133/www.un.org/unrwa/photos/exhibition/visitor-lobby.html New York. They continue to be displayed on the UN http://www.un.org/unrwa/refugees/events/quilts.html website.      The quilts communicate, through the repeated depiction of a well-known map of a Palestine absent the state of Israel, that Israel is illegitimate and all of the land belongs to Palestinians who aim to return. The UN website makes clear that the quilts - with their no Israel message - along with the distribution of their images around the world, was a http://www.un.org/unrwa/refugees/events/quilts.html UN operation. The fifty year Commemoration Quilt is a unique piece of art representing the partnership that has developed between UNRWA and the Palestine refugees over the last 50 years. The Commemoration Quilt consists of five separate quilts of 25 panels each totaling 450cm square. It has been produced by Palestine refugees who live in and outside the refugee camps and who are school pupils, artists, writers, staff in UNRWA facilities, Vocational Training Centre students and many others. Each UNRWA Field Office in Jordan, Lebanon, the Syrian Arab Republic, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip was responsible for the coordination of their quilt. The panels displayed represent a good cross-section of the hundreds of panels that were produced for this project. A special thank you and tribute goes to the women in the UNRWA Embroidery Centre, Gaza and Al-Rimal Preparatory Girls' School, Gaza who assembled the quilt panels from Lebanon, Syria and the West Bank. ====================== http://www.un.org/unrwa/refugees/events/quilts/images/lebanon/lebanon.jpg \* MERGEFORMATINET http://www.un.org/unrwa/refugees/events/quilts/images/lebanon/12.jpg \* MERGEFORMATINET http://www.un.org/unrwa/refugees/events/quilts/images/lebanon/16.jpg \* MERGEFORMATINET http://www.un.org/unrwa/refugees/events/quilts/images/lebanon/22.jpg \* MERGEFORMATINET 1_multipart_xF8FF_1_multipart_xF8FF_7_Untitled04 \* MERGEFORMATINET http://www.un.org/unrwa/refugees/events/quilts/images/lebanon/25.jpg \* MERGEFORMATINEThttp://www.un.org/unrwa/refugees/events/quilts/images/jordan/jordan.jpg \* MERGEFORMATINET http://www.un.org/unrwa/refugees/events/quilts/images/jordan/04.jpg \* MERGEFORMATINET http://www.un.org/unrwa/refugees/events/quilts/images/jordan/05.jpg \* MERGEFORMATINET http://www.un.org/unrwa/refugees/events/quilts/images/jordan/08.jpg \* MERGEFORMATINET http://www.un.org/unrwa/refugees/events/quilts/images/jordan/09.jpg \* MERGEFORMATINET http://www.un.org/unrwa/refugees/events/quilts/images/syria/syria.jpg \* MERGEFORMATINET http://www.un.org/unrwa/refugees/events/quilts/images/syria/05.jpg \* MERGEFORMATINET http://www.un.org/unrwa/refugees/events/quilts/images/westbank/westbank.jpg \* MERGEFORMATINET http://www.un.org/unrwa/refugees/events/quilts/images/westbank/02.jpg \* MERGEFORMATINET http://www.un.org/unrwa/refugees/events/quilts/images/westbank/04.jpg \* MERGEFORMATINET http://www.un.org/unrwa/refugees/events/quilts/images/westbank/10.jpg \* MERGEFORMATINEThttp://www.un.org/unrwa/refugees/events/quilts/images/westbank/22.jpg \* MERGEFORMATINET
