Israeli troops shot dead two Palestinian gunmen during separate clashes in the Gaza Strip, armed faction and medical officials said.
Yusef Waleidah, from the Islamist movement Hamas that controls the Gaza Strip, was killed near Jabaliya in northern Gaza, the group said.
Yasser Asfur, a member of the rival Islamic Jihad, was killed in southern Gaza, east of Khan Yunis, during another exchange of fire with Israeli soldiers, a Palestinian medic said.
An Israeli army spokesman said one gunman was hit in southern Gaza and two hit in the north when cells of gunmen approached soldiers operating near the security fence with Israel.
Two soldiers were lightly wounded in the northern clashes, he said.
Friday's deaths brought to 5,906 the number of people killed since 2000 in Israeli-Palestinian violence, the vast majority of them Palestinians, according to an AFP count.
