RIYAD MANSOUR (OBSERVER OF PALESTINE): Thank you Mr. President. My delegation did not intend to take the floor again after the statement of our Foreign Minister. But we find ourselves in a position to respond to some of the comments by a delegation that asked for the elimination of two important committees established through resolutions from the General Assembly and that delegation also asked the GA to reexamine the mandate of these two committees. And I believe that on the basis of democracy and accepting the will of member states in the General Assembly, we believe that programs related to Palestine do receive evaluation in a democratic way by the entire membership of the General Assembly and the will of the General Assembly in an overwhelming way has been decided every year to extend these mandates of these important committees and programs until a just solution to the question of Palestine on the basis of the will of the international community. And also we were surprised to listen to a statement proposing that GA resolutions do prejudice -- prejudge the settlement in the Middle East. Resolutions in the General Assembly reflecting international law and reiterating international law principles prejudge the settlement, while illegal settlements on the ground, illegal construction of the wall and illegal actions by the Israeli occupying power in suppressing the Palestinian people and creating all these oppressive and abhorrent violations of the rights of the Palestinian people do not prejudge the settlement? We leave it up to the judgment of all countries and their delegations to make a true and accurate reflection on what is really correct, what is fair, what is one-sided and what is balanced. I just want to conclude by referring to two other issues. The position of that one delegation, frankly speaking, is extremely political, and it is a traditional position in which it shields that position of this country, it shields Israel from the law of all of the decisions of the international community and international law. That position of shielding the wrong thing, the illegal thing that Israel is committing is what's allowing Israel to continue with its intransigence in not fulfilling its obligation under the charter and implementing all these resolutions. This is the first issue. The second issue, that statement and the position taken by that delegation, frankly speaking, is anti-Palestinian. We have been very positive in our attitude in establishing our relationship and dialoguing and having meeting in good faith with that specific country in the spirit of implementing UN resolutions, Security Council resolutions and the mandate of the Quartet. But to listen to that statement, which I cannot describe it any way except being anti-Palestinian, and it is very unfortunate while we are extending our hand in a positive way to that country to have a very positive relationship and so that country can play a balanced, fair position with regard to the conflict, we see this anti-Palestinian position as we heard it this night. It is very unfortunate, and we hope that they reconsider their position in future interventions, and thank you Mr. President.
