Letter dated 15 February 2007 from the President of the Security Council to the Secretary-General The members of the Security Council have carefully considered your letter dated 13 February 2007 (S/2007/90), regarding the request of the Government of Lebanon for technical assistance from the International Independent Investigation Commission (IIIC) in the effort to investigate the bombing near the town of Bikfaya on 13 February 2007 which, according to reports, killed 3 people and injured 22. Determined to continue to assist the Government of Lebanon in the search for the truth and to bring to justice perpetrators, organizers and sponsors of that terrorist attack, as well as of other terrorist attacks and assassinations committed in Lebanon since October 2004 (see press statement SC/8954), we refer to resolutions 1644 (2005) and 1686 (2006), invite the Commission to extend appropriate technical assistance to the Lebanese authorities in the investigation and invite the Secretary-General to so inform the Government of Lebanon and the Commissioner of IIIC.
