Security Council Committee established pursuant
to resolution 1718 (2006) concerning the Democratic
People’s Republic of Korea



		Note verbale dated 22 December 2006 from the Permanent
Mission of Estonia to the United Nations addressed to the Chairman of the Committee


	The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Estonia to the United Nations presents its compliments to the Chairman of the Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1718 (2006) and, referring to the latter’s note dated 1 November 2006, has the honour to inform the Committee on the steps taken by the Government of the Republic of Estonia to ensure the implementation of relevant provisions of the above-mentioned resolution.
	The Republic of Estonia, as a member State of the European Union (EU), has been taking part in the preparation of the European Union’s legal instruments implementing the provisions of resolution 1718 (2006) in full. Information in that regard was conveyed to the Security Council by the presidency of the EU on 13 November 2006 (S/AC.49/2006/7). After the adoption of the relevant European Union Council regulation, all legal instruments will be automatically applied to Estonian national legislation.
	On the national level, the Republic of Estonia, as a member of nearly all multilateral export control regimes, is fully implementing the provisions of paragraph 8 (a), (b) and (c) of the Security Council resolution 1718 (2006), in accordance with all the relevant legal acts of Estonia, including, among others, the Strategic Goods Act of 2004, the Customs Act of 2004, the Weapons Act of 2004, the Money-Laundering and Terrorist Financing Prevention Act of 2004, the International Sanctions Act of 2004 and the Penal Code of 2006.
	The Government of Estonia has likewise taken all necessary steps to fully implement the provisions of paragraph 8 (d) and (e), immediately after receiving the list of persons or entities the Committee or the Security Council has respectively designated, as envisaged in the same provisions.
