Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1718 (2006) concerning the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Note verbale dated 14 December 2006 from the Permanent Mission of Panama to the United Nations addressed to the Chairman of the Committee The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Panama to the United Nations presents its compliments to the Chairman of the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1718 (2006) concerning the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, and has the honour to transmit herewith its Government’s reply to the Chairman’s note of 1 November 2006: “In strict compliance with the aforementioned Security Council resolutions, the Republic of Panama has reviewed its domestic legislation, which currently has the tools necessary for the adoption of measures for the inspection of cargo being shipped through our territory to or from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. “On 16 March 2003, the Government of Panama established the Risk Analysis Group, consisting of the Council for Public Security and National Defence, the National Maritime Service, the Panama Maritime Authority and the Panama Canal Authority, for the purpose of preventing terrorist attacks and detecting hazardous cargo that could jeopardize the security of States.
