Security Council Committee established 
pursuant to resolution 1718 (2006) concerning 
the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea



		Note verbale dated 13 November 2006 from the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations addressed to the
Chairman of the Committee


	The Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations presents its compliments to the Chairman of the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1718 (2006) concerning the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and has the honour to transmit herewith the information prepared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba on the steps taken by the Government of the Republic of Cuba to implement the provisions of the resolution (see annex).

	The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba has taken appropriate steps to guarantee that the bilateral trade and cooperation activities Cuba is conducting with the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea are in compliance with the provisions of paragraph 8 of Security Council resolution 1718 (2006), adopted on 14 October 2006.
	Under article 98 of the Constitution of the Republic of Cuba, the Government of the Republic of Cuba is circulating a directive to all central institutions of the State, informing them of the adoption of Security Council resolution 1718 (2006) and requiring strict compliance with its provisions.
	In addition, the Government of the Republic of Cuba established a national coordination mechanism in which all relevant national institutions participate, under the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This mechanism is responsible for overseeing compliance with the provisions of paragraph 8 of Security Council resolution 1718 (2006) and will remain in existence as long as the resolution is in force.
