I will be speaking only of the question of IDP’s. I would like to thank the Special Rapporteur in charge of this question and I would like to shed some light on the policies followed by our country to protect displaced persons. New challenges are facing us in this sphere and we base our policy on the following points: The plan drawn up by the international community to provide material assistance to displaced persons is aimed at bringing about a voluntary return of people in accordance with the common plan agreed upon between the national union government and the government of the southern part of Sudan, and the idea is to carry out all of this as soon as possible. The government has tried to reestablish a social and economic development effort and to help the areas affected by war to rebuild their local communities. The agreement concluded in 2004 is one of the key elements for the voluntary return of displaced persons. We are striving in partnership with the international community to bring about the return of displaced persons to back up the peace process that we all aspire to. We have brought about the reconciliation of all of the hill tribe peoples in the southern part of Sudan and are therefore providing for safety and security in humanitarian quarters. In conclusion, we would like to re-affirm that the Special Rapporteur will receive the necessary replies. Thank you very much.
