Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1718 (2006) concerning the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Note verbale dated 14 May 2007 from the Permanent Mission of Qatar to the United Nations addressed to the Chairman of the Committee The Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations presents its compliments to the Chairman of the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1718 (2006), and has the honour to refer to its note dated 10 January 2007 concerning the compliance of the State of Qatar with the requirements of resolution 1718 (2006) by informing the concerned authorities in the State of Qatar, i.e., the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the General Authority of Customs and Ports, Qatar Central Bank, Qatar Airlines and Qatar Marine Authority, of the requirements of the resolution. The Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations has the honour to transmit herewith further information provided by the General Authority of Customs and Ports about the actions taken by the Authority for the implementation of the resolution (see annex). Annex to the note verbale dated 14 May 2007 from the Permanent Mission of Qatar to the United Nations addressed to the Chairman of the Committee [Original: Arabic] Actions taken by the General Authority of Customs and Ports in Qatar by way of follow-up of the implementation of the Security Council resolutions concerning the nuclear programme of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea 1. A special office has been created in the competent administration of the General Authority of Customs and Ports under the name “Office of Follow-up”, to be in charge of the follow-up and study of the embargoes established by the Security Council; the issuance of the necessary circulars to customs border-crossing points regarding the lists of relevant items, materials, equipment and goods in the annexes to Security Council resolutions; and the examination of suspicious cases involving entries and exits via customs border-crossing points. 2. A recommendation was made to the competent body in the Authority regarding the preparation of a computerized programme for monitoring and follow-up of activities involving the import and export of the related goods, items and equipment after they were defined in accordance with the annexes to the Security Council resolutions. 3.
