I do not want to take the time of this Council to respond to the irresponsible claims of the Israeli representative. This is yet another tired practice by the occupying power to divert the Council’s attention from Israeli crimes and aggression in last 4 decades against Palestinian, Lebanese, and elsewhere in the region through raising unfounded allegations against others. Now the Middle East region is familiar with this policy for many years. We encourage the representative of Israel, the occupying power, to encourage his government to cooperate fully with the Council and its mechanisms and thereby to stop challenging the Council’s authority and integrity. We advise him, instead of smoke screening, the resistance of the people of the region, including Lebanese against his government’s aggression, pay attention to the nuclear arsenals of his regime which has brought tension and conflict to our region and left out stability, security, and peace in the entire of the middle east for several decades. The security and peace will return to our region only with the end of occupation and when the right of Palestinian people to self-determination be fully exercised through establishing of an independent and sovereign state. Thank you.
