Shestack, U.S. Adviser in the Economic and Social Council, on the Situation of and Assistance to Palestine Women, in the Economic and Social Council, July 25, 2007 We remain deeply concerned about the impact of the current crisis on Palestinian women and the entire Palestinian population. At the same time, we grieve for the innocent Israelis, including Israeli women, who have suffered and died due to Palestinian terrorist attacks, a reality that many here do not recognize. One-sided resolutions like this one only serve to undermine the ability of the UN to play a constructive role in furthering peace and so make less attainable the peace that more than anything else, would improve the lot of Palestinian women and all people caught up in this conflict.
