United Nations A/62/637­S/2008/13 Distr.: General 8 January 2008 English Original: Arabic General Assembly Security Council General Assembly Sixty-second session Agenda item 17 The situation in the Middle East Security Council Sixty-third year Identical letters dated 8 January 2008 from the Permanent Representative of Lebanon to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council On instructions from my Government, I should like to inform you that, on 7 January 2008, Israeli enemy forces violated the Blue Line and infiltrated 210 metres into Lebanese territory (UTM coordinates 748493-685838). Those forces also kidnapped the Lebanese citizen Fadi Abdul Al, who was herding cattle on the outskirts of the town of Halta next to Shab`a Farms, and detained him for one day. My Government considers this act a grave aggression against my country's sovereignty and should be condemned in the strongest terms on the basis of the principles and provisions of international law and customs. I should be grateful if you would have this letter circulated as a document of the sixty-second session of the General Assembly, under agenda item 17, and of the Security Council.
