(Signed) Nawaf Salam Ambassador Permanent Representative Annex to the identical letters dated 15 September 2008 from the Permanent Representative of Lebanon to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council Subject: Israeli violations, acts of aggression and other activities from 22 to 31 August 2008, inclusive Air violations On 23 August 2008 between 2050 and 2310 hours, an enemy Israeli reconnaissance aircraft violated Lebanese airspace, entering over the sea off Tyre. It circled the area between the South and Beirut, over land and sea, before departing over Rumaysh. On 25 August 2008 between 0035 and 0040 hours, an enemy Israeli helicopter circled over Lebanese territorial waters off Naqurah. Between 0035 and 0235 hours, an enemy Israeli reconnaissance aircraft flying at low altitude circled the areas of Naqurah, Marwahin and Bint Jubayl. On 26 August 2008 between 1110 and 1230 hours, two enemy Israeli military aircraft violated Lebanese airspace, entering from over Rumaysh. They circled over all regions of Lebanon before departing over Naqurah. Between 1935 and 2015 hours, an Israeli reconnaissance aircraft violated Lebanese airspace, entering from over Rumaysh and flying north to the area above Nabatiyah. It circled over the South before departing over Kafr Killa. Between 2040 and 2235 hours, an enemy Israeli reconnaissance aircraft violated Lebanese airspace, entering over Aytarun and flying north. It circled over the South before departing over Kafr Killa. On 27 August 2008 between 1100 and 1250 hours, four enemy Israeli military aircraft violated Lebanese airspace, entering over the occupied Shab`a Farms. They circled over all regions of Lebanon, carrying out mock attacks over Ghassaniyah and Kawthariyat al-Siyad before departing over Alma al-Sha`b. On 28 August 2008 between 0630 and 1240 hours, an enemy Israeli reconnaissance aircraft violated Lebanese airspace, entering over Naqurah and flying north. It circled over all regions of Lebanon before departing over Rumaysh. Between 1100 and 1236 hours, two enemy Israeli military aircraft violated Lebanese airspace, entering over Rumaysh and circling over all regions of Lebanon before departing over Alma al-Sha`b. On 29 August 2008 between 1050 and 1450 hours, an enemy Israeli reconnaissance aircraft violated Lebanese airspace, entering from over Naqurah and flying north. It circled over the South and Beirut before departing over Rumaysh. Between 1720 and 2315 hours, an enemy Israeli reconnaissance aircraft violated Lebanese airspace, entering from over Rumaysh and flying north. It circled over the South before departing over Rumaysh. On 30 August 2008 between 0655 and 1415 hours, an enemy Israeli reconnaissance aircraft violated Lebanese airspace, entering over Alma al-Sha`b. It circled over the South before departing over Naqurah. On 31 August 2008 between 1003 and 1100 hours, four enemy Israeli military aircraft violated Lebanese airspace, entering over the Shab`a Farms and circling over all regions of Lebanon before departing over Alma al-Sha`b. Between 0807 and 2300 hours, an enemy Israeli reconnaissance aircraft violated Lebanese airspace, entering over Aytarun and flying north as far as Baalbek. It circled between Baalbek and Riyaq and then over Beirut before flying south. After circling over the South, it departed over Naqurah. Attacks on the ground On 24 August 2008 between 0745 and 0845 hours, enemy Israeli forces at the Radar outpost in the occupied Shab`a Farms directed several bursts of medium machine-gun fire at the surrounding area. At 1515 hours, an enemy Israeli patrol consisting of 12 troops approached the Blue Line near Saddanah, on the paved road, and called loudly to the herders, ordering them to leave the area, which they forced them to do. At 1525 hours the hostile patrol departed. On 28 August 2008 between 1945 and 2030 hours, the Israeli enemy at the Sammaqah position in the occupied Shab`a Farms directed several bursts of light and medium machine-gun fire at the surrounding area. On 30 August 2008 at 1600 hours, on the outskirts of Shab`a/Hasbayya, while Imad Atawi was herding livestock some 10 metres from the withdrawal line, enemy Israeli troops from within the occupied Shab`a Farms, near the Saddanah position, hailed him. He left his flock and fled towards his village, whereupon enemy troops seized some 100 goats and held them for one hour.
