Letter dated 29 January 2009 from the Secretary-General addressed to the President of the Security Council


	I have the honour to inform you that Mr. Mubarak Mashhoor al-Shahrani (Saudi Arabia), who I appointed on 9 April 2007 (S/2007/190) and reappointed on 7 July 2008 (S/2008/441) to serve as an expert on the Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team, established pursuant to Security Council resolution 1526 (2004) and extended by Council resolutions 1617 (2005), 1735 (2006) and 1822 (2008), stepped down from this position as from 30 October 2008.
	Accordingly, in consultation with the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 1267 (1999) concerning Al-Qaida and the Taliban and associated individuals and entities, and taking into account the requirements set forth in the aforementioned resolutions, I have appointed Mr. Abdulmajeed A. Ababtain (Saudi Arabia) to serve as an expert on the Monitoring Team until 31 December 2009.
