Further to my report on the United Nations Mission in the Sudan (S/2009/391), I wish to inform the Security Council that the financial implications for the support of the elections in the Sudan are currently estimated, on a full-cost basis, at some $46.6 million. 2. The preliminary projections of $46.6 million provide for the deployment of 100 additional United Nations police officers and 127 civilian personnel (27 international staff, 21 national staff and 79 United Nations Volunteers), as well as for the deployment of 5 additional helicopters effective 1 October 2009 for three months and 16 helicopters effective 1 March 2010 for two months. 3.
