Explanation of Vote on Draft Resolution A/64/L.48 on the Goldstone Report February 26, 2010 JAPAN: Thank you very much Mr. President. First of all, we appreciate the report of the Secretary General in preparing the report on this matter. In this, we take note of ongoing investigation of the government of Israel and also the process that has been initiated by the Palestinian side. Japan decided to support draft resolution just voted as a whole because it's based on the spirit of respecting international humanitarian law and international human rights law. We sincerely hope that this process will not have a negative effect on efforts to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in the Middle East. Thank you, Mr. President.
