United Nations A/65/729S/2011/71 Distr.: General 14 February 2011 English Original: Arabic General Assembly Security Council General Assembly Sixty-fifth session Agenda item 36 The situation in the Middle East Security Council Sixty-sixth year Identical letters dated 10 February 2011 from the Permanent Representative of Lebanon to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council On instructions from my Government, I have the honour to transmit to you herewith a complaint against enemy Israeli forces which, on 17 January 2011, undertook fencing activity in the occupied Lebanese part of the village of Ghajar (see annex). I should be grateful if you would have the present letter and its annex issued as an official document of the sixty-fifth session of the General Assembly, under agenda item 36, and of the Security Council. (Signed) Nawaf Salam Ambassador Permanent Representative 11-23419 (E) 150211 160211 *1123419* A/65/729 S/2011/71 Annex to the identical letters dated 10 February 2011 from the Permanent Representative of Lebanon to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council Republic of Lebanon Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants At 4 p.m. on Monday, 17 January 2011, the Israeli enemy fenced off an area between points CP3 and CP4 in the occupied northern part of the village of Ghajar and, with a view to erecting a new fence in the region, installed stakes and three metre-high posts. They also brought in several vehicles and a prefabricated hut, which they positioned inside the village, opposite CP3. Any activity by the Israeli enemy in this area is considered to be a flagrant violation of Lebanese sovereignty and Security Council resolution 1701 (2006). It also exposes the hostile intentions of Israel and refutes its claim that it will soon withdraw from the occupied northern part of the village of Ghajar. 2 11-23419
