United Nations A/C.3/66/L.57 Distr.: Limited 27 October 2011 Original: English General Assembly Sixty-sixth session Third Committee Agenda item 69 (c) Promotion and protection of human rights: human rights situations and reports of special rapporteurs and representatives France, Germany and United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland: draft resolution Situation of human rights in the Syrian Arab Republic The General Assembly, Recalling Human Rights Council resolution S-17/1 of 22 August 2011, which established an independent international commission of inquiry to investigate all alleged violations of international human rights law since March 2011 in the Syrian Arab Republic, Noting the statement of the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States following the emergency meeting of the League of Arab States held on 16 October 2011 on the situation in the Syrian Arab Republic, Welcomes the efforts made by the League of Arab States to put an 1. immediate end to all violence and to initiate a comprehensive dialogue between the Syrian opposition and the Syrian authorities; Calls upon the Syrian authorities to immediately put an end to all human 2. rights violations, to protect their population and to put an immediate end to all violence in the Syrian Arab Republic; Urges the Syrian authorities to cooperate with the ministerial committee 3. established by the League of Arab States; 4. inquiry.
