Sixtieth session Agenda item 124 Programme budget for the biennium 2006-2007 Expenditure authorization for the biennium 2006-2007 Forty-first report of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions 1. The Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions has considered the report of the Secretary-General on expenditure authorization for the biennium 2006-2007 (A/60/889). 2. The Secretary-General recommended that the General Assembly decide to authorize expenditure of the remaining funds appropriated in Assembly resolution 60/247 A. 3. The Advisory Committee was informed that as at 31 May 2006, an amount of $728.8 million had been expended and that a further $151 million would be expended in June, bringing the total to $879.8 million by the end of June 2006. The level of the budget appropriated by the General Assembly in its resolution 60/247 A was $3,798,912,500. 4. On the basis of the figures cited above, it is clear that under the present circumstances the Secretary-General will reach the limit of his spending authority before the end of July 2006.
