Lebanon, at the Security Council Stakeout, January 29, 2007 Ambassador Wolff: Good afternoon. I'm running a little bit late. The council session went later than expected today, so I can take a couple of questions. Yes. Yes. Reporter: Ambassador, what is the U.S. response to the sort of the proposal that's been floated out by Mr. El Baradei about a deal with Iran whereby they suspend your enrichment and enforce implementation of -- the sanctions adopted December 23 would also be suspended. Ambassador Wolff: Well, you know from Resolution 1737 that was adopted unanimously in December that there is a path laid out for suspension, and that is Iranian suspension of their enrichment activities to be responded by the council. So that is very clear and it's not subject to reinterpretation. Reporter: Ambassador, given the position the U.S. took last week with UNDP and the North Korea program not including capacity building for the government, does the U.S. think that the same should be applied to UNICEF, WFP, WHO and the other agencies, or is it limited to UNDP? Ambassador Wolff: I think any program that's susceptible to misuse needs to be looked at very carefully, and we've made those views clear. One more. One more. Reporter: Given that the dynamics on the Kosovo final status talks in Vienna, in Europe, then do you expect from any information that you have that matter to come to the Security Council? Ambassador Wolff: Well, we're expecting, as I understand it, in the first instance for Mr. Ahtisaari to talk to the parties. And he'll take advantage of this month -- this coming month, February. I expect shortly thereafter we expect to be briefed and information here by the secretary-general on the Ahtisaari plan. Thank you very much..
