I wish to thank the Contruller, Mn Sach, and the Chairman of ACABQ, Mr. Saha, for their introduction of the relevant reports. The Chinese delegation welcomes the detailed presentation of the LINMIS budget by the Secretariat and generally agneeswithlhe comprehensive analysis and rccommendations ofACABQ. The United Nations peacekeeping operations play an important role in the maintenance of world peace and regional stability, and their influence has been growing over the recent years. As a steadfast supporter of the peacekeeping operations of the United Nations, the Chinese government has been active in making political and financial contribution to UN peacekeepirrg operations. I wish to take this opportunity to reaflirm once again the firm commitment of the Chinese government in this regard. Africa is the continent where currently the United Nations deploys the greatest number of peacekeeping operations. China firmty supports the United Nations peacekeeping operations in Africa. As one of the biggest existing peacekeeping operations, IJNIUIS has plaid an important role in the implementation the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, since its creation and has received extensive attention from various parties. The Chinese delegafion sincerely hopes that UNIMIS will continue to play an active role in promoting the full implementation of CPA, stabilizing the situation on the grcund and assisting in post conflict reconstruction. Meanwhileo we wish to request the Secretariat to implement the budget strictly and cany out internal oversight scrupulously so that the valuable resources contributed by the member states can be utitized in an optimal manner for the effective implementation of the mandate.
