4/…	Elimination of all forms of intolerance and of discrimination based on religion or belief

The Human Rights Council,

Recalling all resolutions on the elimination of all forms of intolerance and of discrimination based on religion or belief that have been adopted by the General Assembly and by the Commission on Human Rights;

Recalling also article 18 of the International Convenant on Civil and Political Rights, article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other relevant human rights provisions;

Considering that religion or belief, for those who profess either, is one of the fundamental elements in their conception of life and that freedom of religion or belief should be fully respected and guaranteed;

  Considering also that the disregard for and infringement of human rights and  fundamental freedoms, in particular the right of freedom of thought, conscience, religion or belief, continue to bring, directly or indirectly, wars and great suffering to humankind;

1. Decides to continue substantive consideration of this matter at its sixth and subsequent sessions.

2. Requests the Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief to regularly report  on this issue to the Human Rights Council
