Change title “Preparations for the Durban Review Conference” to “Preparations for the Review Conference on the Implementation of the Durban Declaration and Plan of Action”

In PP4 replace “sixty years of the United Nations Action Against Racism” by “sixty years of United Nations action against racism” and replace “whose programmes of actions have largely not been achieved” by “whose programmes of action have only been partially achieved”

In PP5 replace “Saluting the gallant efforts of the Carribean Community to keep the Durban spirit alive and foremost in the conscience of the international community and, in this regard welcoming the historic unanimous decision” by “Welcoming the unanimous decision….”;

In PP6 replace “Durban Review Conference” by “review conference on the implementation of the Durban Declaration and Plan of Action”

In PP7 replace “Durban Review Conference” by “review conference on the  implementation of the Durban Declaration and Plan of Action”

Replace OP1  “Decides to establish a Preparatory Committee for the Durban Review   Conference which shall be open to the participation of all States Members of the United Nations and Members of the specialized agencies and also with the participation of observers in accordance with the established practice of the General Assembly,” with the following

            “Decides to request the Inter-Governmental Working Group on the Effective  Implementation of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action to engage actively in preparing the review conference on the implementation of the Durban Declaration and Plan of Action, which shall, in accordance with the established practice, be open to the participation of all States Members of the United Nations and Members of the specialized agencies and also with the participation of observers.”

              Replace OP2 “Decides also that the Preparatory Committee shall hold an organizational session of one week during May 2007, at the level of personal  representatives of the Heads of State or Government or other appropriate high-level representatives designated for this purpose by Governments and two substantive sessions of ten working days each  during 2007 and 2008 in Geneva”  

With the following: “Decides also that Inter-Governmental Working Group of the Effective Implementation of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action shall hold, starting with its 2007 session, an additional meeting of one week further to its regular two-week meeting in order to formulate a concrete plan for the review conference on the implementation of the Durban Declaration and Plan of Action.” 

              Delete OP3

In OP4  replace “Governments” by “states” and insert after “freedom of religion or belief” the following: “the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression” and delete “the five experts on complementary standards” and replace “preparatory committee” by “Inter-Governmental Working Group on the Effective Implementation of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action” and replace “Review Conference” by “review conference on the implementation of the Durban Declaration and Plan of Action”

In OP5 replace “Durban Review Conference” by “review conference on the implementation of the Durban Declaration and Plan of Action”

In OP7 replace “Decides further to retain this priority issue on its agenda” by “Decides further to remain seized of this priority issue”
