Right of Reply

Thank you, Mr. President.  Again I have asked for the floor, Mr. President, on exercising my delegation’s right of reply. To the dubious and rhetorical statements made by the representative of the United States, I would like to draw the attention of this august body to the phenomenal irony of our era.  Amongst them is the attempt of a country who has been recognized and condemned by the people of the world as the worst dictatorial empire and most notorious violator of human rights on our world.  A few instances, due to the time constraint, I shall try to be very brief.  Just hinder and refer to a few instances to the violation of human rights by the US government.  

The unilateral- the US unilateral invasion and occupation of Iraq, which took place in 2003 by the- bypassing the Security Council.  This unlawful and internationally illegitimate action has not only led to the violation of the right to life and killing of more than 600,000 of innocent people of Iraq and caused misery and destruction of all the infrastructure of that country and not referring to the very different cases of the raping of the Iraqi girls by the American soldiers and killing of their family.  This invasion was actually an arrogant adventure which was a slap on the face of the UN Security Council leading to the discredibility of the whole UN system including the UN Human Rights institution’s norms and values.  

The US barbaric treatment of the prisoners in Guantanamo Bay is a fact and everybody has, is quite aware of that.  The prisoner’s camp and the torture center in that Guantanamo which is by any conventional human rights criteria perfectly beyond description such as inhumane, degrading, torturous treatment.  The appalling circumstances of the prisons again in Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq shocked the whole world.  Nevertheless, the US government resorting to the same theatrical and improvised responses and approach has failed to heed to all international organizations, demand to stop this obvious form of human rights violations in this prison.  It has not tried to remedy or compensate the victims.  The CI secret operation (gavel raps)--- I shall finish, Mr. President, in a matter of minutes--- secret operation which was known to be rendition from one destination to another transferring a prisoner from one destination to another, actually with the aim of forcing them to confess under pressure and torture was maybe the most ridiculous justification of combating terrorism obviously is a strategy doctrine of the neo-cons in the White House… (interrupted by the chair because time had expired)
