(Signed) Caroline Ziade Charge d’affaires a.i. Annex to the identical letters dated 1 September 2006 from the Chargé d’affaires a.i. of the Permanent Mission of Lebanon to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council Subject: Israeli violations and acts of aggression against Lebanon from 0800 hours on 31 August 2006 to 0800 hours on 1 September 2006 Air violations Six air violations by enemy Israeli reconnaissance aircraft and warplanes over various Lebanese areas were recorded, involving a total of three reconnaissance aircraft and sixteen warplanes. Land violations Between 1030 hours and 1530 hours, an excavator belonging to enemy Israeli forces accompanied by an enemy patrol fortified a position on the Lebanese side of the town of Ghajar with cement foundations and earthen berms. Between 2340 hours and 2400 hours, enemy Israeli forces intermittently strafed the area surrounding their position at Ruwaysat al-Alam in the occupied Shab’a farmlands with medium-machine-gun fire. In the wake of the Israeli enemy’s use of cluster bombs against residential areas during its attacks on Lebanon, many of these bombs have been reported to have exploded, leading to the injury of one person during the period in question. At 2100 hours in the town of Ain Baal a cluster bomb left by the recent Israeli aggression exploded, injuring Husayn Nasir (36 years old). sss1 \* MERGEFORMAT A/60/998 sss2 \* MERGEFORMAT S/2006/711 sss1 \* MERGEFORMAT A/60/998 sss2 \* MERGEFORMAT S/2006/711 FooterJN \* MERGEFORMAT 06-48849 \* MERGEFORMAT 2 \* MERGEFORMAT 2 FooterJN \* MERGEFORMAT 06-48849 United Nations A/60/998–S/2006/711 General Assembly Security Council Distr.: General 5 September 2006 English Original: Arabic jobn \* MERGEFORMAT 06-48849 (E) 060906 060906 Barcode \* MERGEFORMAT *0648849*
