Notice of intention to step down from the role of Independent Expert on the situation of human rights in the Sudan

I am sorry to inform you that I would like to step down from my role as Independent Expert on the situation of human rights in the Sudan after the presentation of my next report to the Z7th Session of the Human Rights Council in September 201-4. This is due to a family health situation that requires my increased attention and would not allow me enough time needed to continue in this role.
I thank the Council for giving me the privilege to serve as the Independent Expert on the situation of human rights in the Sudan for the past 2 years and greatly appreciate the opportunity this has offered me to contribute to its laudable work of promoting and protecting human rights globally.
