General Assembly Sixty-first session Agenda item 13 The situation in the Middle East Security Council Sixty-first year Identical letters dated 13 October 2006 from the Chargé d’affaires a.i. of the Permanent Mission of Lebanon to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council On the instructions of my Government, I have the honour to inform you that on 11 September 2006, enemy Israeli forces violated the Blue Line demarcated in 2000 in the wake of Israeli withdrawals from Lebanese territory in implementation of United Nations Security Council resolutions 425 (1978) and 426 (1978). The violation consisted in setting up trenches and installing barbed wire 10 to 15 metres inside Lebanese territory along a 1.5-km stretch from the area opposite the Metulla colony to Hamamis hill. I should be grateful if you would have this letter circulated as a document of the sixty-first session of the General Assembly, under agenda item 13, and of the Security Council.
